Did you know that Audenaerde has a lot of local specialties, typical for their city? We have chosen a few of our favourite local specialties that we would like to introduce to you.
Nothing like a good piece of cake to go with your coffee. A year after the first annual 'Adriaen Brouwer bierfeesten' the Adriaen Brouwer Cake was born. A fresh frangipane pie with small pieces of pineapple: the perfect addition to your coffee.
Not a big fan of cake with your coffee? No worries, the small Lekkies from Kerselare offer a perfect sweet alternative. This light brown sugar candy is originally from Ghent but has been produced in Audenaerde for years.
When coffee break is over and the evening is approaching it's time for an aperitif. The Ename beer is famous all over Belgium, but do you know the Enamecheese as well? The Enamecheese is an abbey cheese that has riped for over 4 weeks. Because of its full and rich character it fits perfectly with a good aperitif.
As a digestive we like to end with a small glass of Graanjenever. The best Graanjenever can be found at Braeckman, they have been making the best Graanjenever of the area since 1918.
As you can see, there is no shortage of good food and good drinks in Audenarde.
